Air temperature anomalies for Croatia in April 2020

At all analyzed stations the average monthly air temperature for April 2020 exceeded the multi-annual average (1981 - 2010). Corresponding air tempearture anomalies were within the range from 0,4 °C (Osijek and Komiža) to 2,9 °C (Parg).

A comparison with the available data series of analyzed stations reveals that in April 2020 there were no maximum air temperature which exceeded the absolute maximum on record (Table 1)

According to percentile ranks and classification ratings, thermal conditions in Croatia for April 2020 have been described by the following categories: normal (the wider area of the town of Varaždin, Eastern Croatia and part of the Southern Adriatic), very warm (part of the Northern Adriatic and its hinterland) and warm (the rest of Croatia).



Precipitation amounts for Croatia in April 2020

An analysis of the precipitation amounts in April 2020 expressed as percentages (%) of the 1981 - 2010 average shows that these precipitation amounts were below the average at all analyzed stations. A comparison with the multi-annual average reveals that corresponding precipitation amounts for April 2020 were within the range from 8 % (Mali Lošinj) to 68 % (Hvar) of the above average for this month.

According to percentile ranks and classification ratings, the precipitation amounts in April 2020 have been described by the following categories: extremely dry (the wider areas of the towns of Pazin, Mali Lošinj, Bjelovar, Daruvar and Gospić as well as the part of the Middle Adriatic and its hinterland), dry (Southern Adriatic and part of the Middle Adriatic and its hinterland as well as the wider areas of the towns of Rijeka, Senj and Varaždin), normal (the wider area of the town of Hvar) and very dry (the rest of Croatia).
